How To Select The Perfect Camping Spot

Camping is a great way to get away from your daily routines of work or school, eat, sleep. It affords the opportunity to connect with nature in a way that the majority of us simply are not able to do on a daily basis.

Tips on finding the best location for camping.
Before you can pick an actual camping site, you first have to do research on campgrounds that fit your needs. This is easy thanks to the Internet and the fact that many campgrounds have their own website. You can check out the campsites through the website before actually going there, allowing you to make an educated decision about your choice of campground.
Please remember, campsites can look a tad more glorified than they really are, much like pictures in a menu at restaurants.

Before you choose your campsite you need to take into consideration what kind of camping you want to do. When a campground is labeled as "primitive", exactly what should you expect?
At primitive campgrounds you must bring ALL your supplies of your own. Prepare to bring everything from toilet paper to a first aid kit and from shelter to lots of water. Primitive campsites are usually deep in the wilderness where you will not find electricity, water, showers, or even pit toilets.

On the other extreme, you'll find campgrounds that offer hookups for water, waste, and electric - all in a beautiful setting. A number of campgrounds even offer relaxing spas!

The characteristics of most campgrounds, camping site amenities, location and cost, usually fall between these two extremes. Camping in private parks usually includes all the amenities you could possibly desire. Many campgrounds welcome long-term guests since they offer laundry facilities, arcades and shops. The majority of private parks have family oriented activites for all including but not limited to bingo, sport competitions for children, fun games for the kids, human stratego, etc.

Campground fees.
The fee to stay at a private park will be higher than renting a spot at a public campground. State park campgrounds can have any level of amenities, from primitive tent campgrounds to near-luxury resorts. A lot have modern amenities such as electricity, showers, working toilets, swimming pools, tours with guides and playgrounds for children.
Most state and national forest parks only offer the basics. Fire rings, pit toilets and picnic tables will most likely be found here. The good news is that these campgrounds are very affordable as they may be free or only cost a few dollars per day.

Campgrounds will book quickly during nice weather, so book early!
Note that when the weather is favorable, people don't want to drive hours and hours for the campground they might have planned on. Instead, they will settle early at a campground closer to them so they can enjoy the rest of the day. To get the best spot you must arrive early and have a bit of luck.
Would you want a location by the swimming pool and children's playground? Although it is an ideal site for kids it may be somewhat noisy due to pedestrian activity. The same holds true for sites located near showers or bathrooms. People will probably be tramping by your tent around the clock.

Are you someone who needs the sounds of a noisy city or do you prefer a more quiet setting? With the wide variety of options camping offers there are sure to be features or activities that appeal to everyone; you will locate the perfect campground for you and your family.
