Middle - to win both sides of the same contest in sports betting event. Wagering on the underdog at one point spread and the favorite at a different point spread and winning both sides.
MVP - Most Valuable Player.
Mush Artist - gambler who doesn't pay
Matched Bet - A bet accepted by another punter on a betting exchange; matched bets cannot be cancelled, but a bet in the opposite direction would compensate for the original bet, effectively cancelling the initial transaction.
Money Line (Also, Action Line or Spread Betting) - Otherwise known as 'head-to-head' betting or a 'straight bet'. This is a bet type where you only have to pick the winner of an event. That is to say that you don't have to pick by how much a team will win or lose but simply who will win the game. The odds on each of the outcomes can be varied depending on the chances of the outcomes.
Move the line - a player pays an additional price to receive half a point or more in his favor on a point spread game.
NBA - National Basketball Association.
NCAA - National Collegiate Athletic Association.
NFL - National Football League.
NHL - National Hockey League.
Nickel - A $500 wager.
Newspaper Line - the betting line which quite often appears in the daily newspapers. The lines are only approximate and quiet often totally inaccurate and misleading.
Nickel line - A sports wagering line where the juice is 5%.
